Can Cats Get Fur or Skin Cancer from Indoor Tanning?

We take turns furtanning on mom's desk under her desk lamp while she works every day at home.
We like it because mom's study is our own purrsonal tanning salon.

But our mom is very worried about us!
Does anyone know if cats can get fur or skin cancer from this?

That is CocoBean in this picture, but right now, Chester and I are having our own dual tanning session too.

We like a nice warm 60 watt bulb.  Should we wear goggles?

I don't know, but goggles would probably be a good idea!

I don't know either. Be sure to turn over so at least it will be even.

Hm, that is a very good question!

Is it my imagination or is there a big X on the bottom two glass windows of that door?

Oh wow, that must be so cozy warm. We don't know about the skin cancer but we don't think so since those types of lamps don't have UV Rays.

That looks like the perfect way to stay warm and to be close to your Mom. I hope it doesn't cause skin cancer. I doubt it will...we have so much fur that it probably keeps us safe.:)

Make sure you don't end up with two tan rings around the eyes if you wear goggles... hehe.

That looks like a great place for furtanning. I wish my momma had a lamp like that.

I think you're ok under a light bulb. The sun, I'm not so sure.

*LOL*!!! Now who started this tanning trend? Cocobean? :)
Remember, you guys are little beings, so don't tan for too long like those humans!

I should think you'd need sunglasses so you don't get blinded.

I especially like basking under the warm halogen light! I am pretty sure it is safe.

Those 60 Watt lamps are the best! Can you believe they just banned them in Germany and that only lightsaving bulbs are allowed now?! These don't produce any heat at all. Does noone think of us cats in this coutry?!

Incandescent bulbs don't emit UV rays, so you don't have to worry about cancer. It does look toasty warm.
