Very Bad New Year's News

Hi, it's me, Misty. I have not been feeling well, but I don't think that is any reason to put me in this stinky old cardboard PTU. I guess I should be grateful I have not had to go in it since I got my bad kidney removed, almost 3 years ago.......
(Please read Misty's Story here, to see what my mom has already done to save me.)
So, I have not been feeling well, and I don't know why, so off to the V-E-T, I went. Mom is worried.....please don't worry, mom. I am so grateful to you, for adopting me, and for being my mom.

Here I am in my mom's arms in that little room at the V-E-T office.....waiting....what are they going to do to me today?

I had to lay on this cold green counter. Then they took me in back for a while and stole my bloods, and weighed me. I only weigh 7.6 pounds now. Aren't models supposed to be thin?? The blood test results came back quickly with very bad news. I have Chronic Kidney Disease, that's what the V-E-T said. There is no cure, and the vet said she was not sure how long I had, since every cat is different. Since I only have one kidney, it is even worse for me.
Quickly, they brought in some subcutaneous fluids and stuck a big needle under my skin to inject them. I was so dehydrated, they gave me 250cc. Every time I don't feel well now, my mom will have to inject me at home herself.

When we got home, JB had to snoopervise, and check out the sack of fluids. The needles are very scary. JB said she would give me lots of kisses to try to make me feel better. JB has been a great little sister. I love her.

I got home to my room, and had a snack, and started feeling better from the fluids. I was feeling very fresh and furry, even a slight bit frisky, if only just for a moment. Please don't worry, mom, and please don't cry any more. I will try to stay well as long as I can. I love you for taking such good care of me for over 13 years.

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my BIG WORLD too, thanks!

Oh Misty I am so sorry to hear you are not well. My cat cousin Nessa has kidney troubles too and has to get IV fluids everyday.

Her Mom found that some needles are better than others, and don't hurt much. Cause it makes Nessa feel better she doesn't mind getting the fluids either. Want me to see if I can find out what needles are better?

Hi Misty,
You looked very tired on the VET exam table, hugs hugs!
I'm so glad that you feel better after the fluid treatment, continue to get well, ok?
My sister Miami had CRF too and she made it 'til 18 years! That's the new year goal for you, at least another 5 years in your mom's loving care.
JB I admire the good care that you give to Misty, I love all of you.
And you know what, you're the first one in the new year 2009 who left a message for me, I send you a first friend gift! I think I have your address in my DWB cards list.

Oh sweet Misty, I was afraid of this. I remember how sick you were before and how much you have gone though. I will pray and pray for you and light a candle for you as I have been doing for the past two nights. Remember, every kitty is different and you may feel pretty good for a really long time. Billie doesn't need sub q's yet and she seems happy. Tookie only needed them for a while when she was 11 and then she stayed with me well into her 20's. I know how much your sweet Mommy Deb loves you and she will do everything she can for you. JB is a very loving sister too. You are a very special kitty girl Misty, beautiful and brave. We all send you and your family Love and Hope for a wonderful New Year.

Hi Misty,

The Momnmy's Samantha had Cushings that led to CKD and the Mommy had to give her the same fluids your Mommy is giving you. She went to the bridge when she was almiost 15 years old but it wasn't the CKD that killed her, she died from the complocations of diabeties. Samantha was the Mommy's heart and she fought hard to keep her happy as long as she could. I now that JB loves you very much just like your Mommy does. Be brave and keep the faith. All of you are in our thoughts & prayers.

Love Mona & the Mommy too!!
