The Little Stinker

........continued from my last post.

Here is PooPoo now. She has been sequestered to a bathroom after the PooPoo explosion. She does not seem to know what all the fuss is all about.

PooPoo says: "Mom, why are you putting me in this room by myself?"
Mom said:
"PooPoo, you are a bad girl, and you stink, and I can not have poopoo all over the new house!"

This is PooPoo's new pad. Please note that the brown mink style bed has been already been removed because PooPoo peed in it! Mom had to replace it with another freshly laundered bed.

You can already see from just a day or so, that PooPoo has soiled the towels, if you look closely.

Mom is at her wit's end with PooPoo. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? We have Feliway pheromones plugged in the room with her. Or someone mentioned Rescue Remedy, which we have not tried yet. But mom thinks the issues with PooPoo go deeper, and PooPoo might just have a screw loose!

PooPoo says: "I just don't know what all the fuss is about. So I stink a little bit. Isn't that allowed when you are 14??"

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my BIG WORLD too, thanks!

It's very sad really. I expect she does have some kind of issue. Cats are naturally clean. Not an easy situation.

Do you think there might be something wrong with PooPoo physically? Has she been to the vet's office? Maybe something is wrong with her digestion. A urinary tract infection. I am just guessing. Are her poops solid? For dogs, we get to eat canned pumpkin when we have poop issues, like if they are too runny or if we have constipation. It's the general cure-all for dog poop problems.

What about putting down big pieces of cardboard under the towels? I'm just afraid PooPoo's pee will seep into the grout lines if the grout lines aren't sealed properly.

Mommy has tried the pumpkin thing with Ivy, and it did work a bit for her poop problems . . . the only thing there is that all of us thought it was so yummy that we all ate it!

PooPoo may just be getting stubborn. Mommy has had older kitties who just suddenly decided they could potty anywhere they wanted to, and she could never figure out the reason why. I am keeping my paws crossed for both you and PooPoo that you find an answer and she stops her explosions.

Purrrrs, pretty cuz!

Oh dear... I just read the previous post and now this! PooPoo honey, what is going on in that pretty head of yours? I wish I knew what to do.
I have been cleaning up after Cricket (pee) almost everyday since we started kitten sitting. Billie won't let me groom her as she is in a very pissy mood now. Yikes!
I don't know... there must be something going on with her digestive system. Normally no one can just poo whenever they think of it. Right? There must be waste in the lower bowel and the intestinal muscles have to move it along and digestion takes a while. Sigh... I don't know, just grasping at straws. Maybe poor PooPoo is just senile. :( Mommy loves you anyway sweetie.
I hope Jelly Bean and Misty are doing well.
Hugs to you all!

How was she when she first came to the new home? Maybe it's the stress of the new home, plus you being away made her revert to her previous behavior? Is she having diarrhea or just pooping wherever she pleases? If it's the latter she might have a screw loose*. Have you considered asking your vet for medication for her? Something to make her relaxed?

*I think Rascal has a screw loose. She has always done weird things while she sleeps. Fortunately nothing poop related.

Hi, JB...

I'm not sure what's going on with PooPoo, but I hope your Mom can figure it out...

PooPoo, what's going on? We're worried about you. Please try to be more careful. Have you been checked out by the V-E-T? Maybe you have a hurty tummy or something. We're stumped!

Poor PooPoo. We are hoping it is just the stress of the new environment and all of the changes. It would be worth it to have the vet check you out to make sure everything is working okay.

The first thing that you have to do is to visit the veterinarian for if Poo Poo's problem are a few diarrheas or some urinary problem. Later you can try with feliway spray for all the places that she has marked with her smell (pees or wees). Rub a gauze for her face (feromonas facial) and rub with it all the places that she marks with her wees and dregs.

Wash all the dirt with detergents of active oxygen is the only thing that can remove the smell. If the smell does not remove itself she will continue urinating or defecating in the same places.

The confinement can worsen her anxiety. If the problem persists the best thing is to consult a specialist in feline behaviour.

My great aunt Maxine got incontinence when she got older... maybe that is PooPoo's problem? I think the v-e-t needs to be called.

Oh this is tricky. My friend tried rescue remedy with her cat who had been attacked, and it settled her down. We would suggest asking the vet, maybes PooPoo needs some sort of kitty prozac?

Good luck and we hopes you enjoys your new house!

Glad to see you gals are slowly getting used to your new digs. Well almost. Poor PooPoo. They say cats start getting senile after 12 yrs old.

I had the same problem with my cat off and on. It got very bad when one of my other cats became very ill with kidney issues, since he was having to pee so much it was impossible to keep the litter box perfectly clean. I thought it would get better after Zak crossed the bridge, but my old cat (now 17) still refused to use the litter box.

Desperate, I tried Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Litter Attractant (you can buy at PetSmart) along with Dr. Elsey's scoopable litter (probably not necessary, but I wanted to try anything). Now, he doesn't use the litter box 100% of the time, but he does use it about 95%. I also started giving him a few Temptations when I would see him use the litter box (now he meows each time he steps in the box so I can see him!). I now don't use either of Dr. Elsey's products - it seemed my bad cat just needed to be retrained.

Good luck - I know how frustrating this is.

JB,
Since I am determined to be a dog detective when I grow up, I would guess that Poo Poo is having a difficult time holding her poop poops. This is a result of old age, I would imagine. Since I'm a wanna be doggie detective, I am unsure about kitty pooper dooper problems and at this time would recommend a plain ole cork. Do you think Poo Poo would mind?

Poor PooPoo. This is such a difficult problem. I hope your vet can offer you some solutions or ideas. Do you think she is anxious? I know there are anti-anxiety medications.

hi JB, we did not know PooPoo was so old. is 14 old for a cat? we don't know about cats, but we know about dogs. in our Dr. Dog book, it says that when dogs get old they can get forgetful, like humans do. and dogs can forget their potty training. maybe that's what PooPoo has. it's kind of sad for her. can you use kitty diapers?

woofs.

When Rugrat poops or pee pees on the floor, Mama puts her box where the poop or pee pee was and slowly, over a few days, moves it back where it belongs. She's no genius but she gets the message. Did you guys move recently? Cats are spooked by changes

My post this week is about my catsister. You may want to tiptoe over.

PooPoo,

My mom understands what your mom is going through. They get things nice and clean and new and neat and they want them to stay that way. That's why my mom has been bringing me to work with her. She hates it when I pee in the house but it's something I need to do. Maybe you're just trying to tell everyone that this new house belongs to you? My mom wishes she knew what to tell your mom to try. We had a cat named JuJu that would pee everywhere but there was rivalry between her and the other cats in my house. Is there rivalry between you and JB and Misty? JuJu never assimilated before she went to the bridge but my mom still kept her (though exiled to the basement). She felt bad about that but couldn't have JuJu pee all over the place. Maybe you're just going to have to live in the bathroom from now on...
