Taffy's Purple Sweater

When I mentioned a sweater in my last post, it made me think of this story about my sister, Taffy. I would like to talk about a sweater again today, and also about the little cedar box you can see here below me on the shelf of my desk in Big and Small World Studios.

First I would like to show you this purple sweater. My grandma knitted this sweater for my mom many years ago, before I was borned. My mom kept the sweater in a closet on a hanger until one day, it fell down on the floor. At that moment, it became my sister, Taffy's sweater. Taffy just LOVED this sweater, because it was so soft on her toes. She made biscuits on this sweater every single day from that day forward!

But you might ask, why does this sweater have one arm cut off of it now? Well, my mom cut off the arm of this sweater when it was time for Taffy to go to the Bridge. Mom wanted Taffy to be able to make biscuits forever, and wanted her to be warm forever. So mom took the one arm of this sweater and let Taffy take it to the Bridge with her.

Inside this little cedar box is where Taffy's spirit and the arm of the purple sweater stays with us now. She will always be with us, and this little cedar box always sits on the shelf here at Big and Small World Studios.

Taffy loved sleeping in the sun, and she was mom's "Sunshine Girl" and she will never be forgotten.

Even now, as we are writing about her, almost two years later, mom is very sad. We will never forget Taffy......

Before you go, please sign my GUESTBOOK, and stop by my BIG WORLD too, thanks!

That is so sweet, JB. Taffy was a special girl. It is wonderful that you still have her with you. Purrs to you and your mommy. It is hard not to be leaky eyed about our loved ones, even long after they are gone.

That was really nice that your mom gave Taffy the sleeve to take with her. Mom and Leah had a huge (22 pound) cat named Ceasar. When Ceasar went to the bridge, Leah drew a mural on the inside of the box they buried him in. It was really nice, except Ceasar didn't fit in the box... So they buried him with the top of the box with the picture... Hope you have a nice weekend and hope your mom doesn't stay sad.

I try to be a really tough boy and never cry, but when I see my mum tear up, I kinda cry too. Mum read me the story about Taffy, cuz I still can't read very well... That was the most special sweater ever made with love and it was so special for your mum to give up that sweater for Taffy to always have and cherish forever and ever.
Mum thought about Gizmo when reading the story and when she saw that box that was made special for Taffy...it gave her ideas of how she could keep memories of him too.
I wish I could have known Taffy. I am very glad I have met you. I think you are very special.
Give your mum a head rub across her cheek for me, k?

That was very lovely and made MB a bit sad. It is a lovely cedar box and to think that Taffy still has the sweater is the best.

Losing a loved one is so hard. That was such a nice gesture for your mom to put the piece of the sweater in the box so Taffy can always be with it.

Hello JB and siblings! I am very happy to meet you! Fank you so much by coming by my bloggie to say hello... I can see dat we do have a lot in common! I loved the part on your Wednesday quirk list where you said dat you hate it when your mommy is on the phone, so you stand in front of her and talk until she gets off. Dat is both funny and pawesome!!

Your Friday post about Taffy is just so sweet. Ironically, my mommy also made a post for Friday on one of our rainbow bridgers. We can totally understand the loss and appreciate learning about your beloved Taffy. Fank you very much for sharing.

Hugs and Purrs,
Kilroy

Oh, My eyes are all teary reading about sweet Taffy and her purple sweater. JB I really understand how your Mom feels. It's a pain that doesn't completely go away. Taffy is so beautiful. All of your Mom's kitties are.
Toeshee is so silly and fun. He's very good too. He gets into things, but we come to his rescue. I still wish I had my Tookie though...
I hope your Mom feels better. Just believe Taffy is in a beautiful place, healthy and happy, waiting to see you all again. That's what gets me through; Hope.
Sending you Love and extra Hugs,

Your mommy is a very sweet person! That made our PM's eyes leak. Whenever they buried one of the cats who came before they were always wrapped in their favorite blanket, sweater and had some crunchies and their favorite toy.

Thanks for sharing that with us even though it was sad.
